It’s been a while since we’ve heard anything of significant note from the tower of power MF DOOM. After a couple of production duties for Ghostface Killah last year and some compilation appearances on Stones Throw and Nature Sounds, DOOM has kept things well and truly on the down low in regards to new material. With Swift & Changeable (collaboration with Ghostface) on the horizon and rumoured follow-ups to Madvillainy (collaboration with Madlib) and King Geedorah nowhere to be seen, it seems like a good time to fill the gap while we all wait to see what DOOM has under his sleeve.The Rhymesayers Entertainment Radio Special was broadcast in 2004 around about the time MM…FOOD? was due to hit the streets, dedicating 2 whole hours to all things DOOM. During the show, DOOM is interviewed talking about everything from his original inspirations, the forming of KMD (an early hip hop trio featuring DOOM’s brother Subroc and Onyx), being chewed out by a major label, and the mad ass production-line efficiency of Madlib in delivering the beats. The show is wall to wall with DOOM’s tracks in his many various guises (KMD, King Geedorah, Viktor Vaughn, etc) and is a perfect introduction to MF DOOM for anyone who’s been hiding under a rock for the past few years and doesn’t know what all the fuss is about.A little warning: the recording isn’t particularly loud, so make sure your volume dial is switched up to compensate.
