Les Adams - Doctor’s Orders (mastermix series #10)
MP3, Music May 20th, 2007
Les Adams - forever legendary for being the first UK club DJ to perform an entire live show… using Minidisc. Err, nice one Les! To be fair, Les Adams has a lot more strings to his bow, and has made his fair share of contribution to the world of music in one way or another over the past couple of decades. Responsible for mixing and/or production duties for artists such as Aretha Franklin, Luther Vandross, Kool & The Gang and more, he was also signed as an artist in his own right, known as ‘L.A. Mix’. He tasted success with a number of national chart hits in the United Kingdom, and produced a number of mixes for Disco Mix Club.
Les also has a place in the hallowed hall of pirate radio fame, working for London stations Solar, Radio Jackie and Contact. ‘Doctor’s Orders’ is taken from Solar Radio circa May 1985, and delivers a tasty slice of those soulful disco sounds that you should all be accustomed to by now if you’ve been checking in over the last couple of months. A little warning before you listen: the hook on Chaka Khan’s ‘Eye To Eye’ will become so imprinted in your mind, that you shouldn’t be surprised if you catch yourself humming it at every given opportunity! Linkage and listage after the jump.
