When Coldcut were offered up a 2 hour slot for the BBC Radio 1’s Essential mix in 2006, they not only took the ball and ran with it, they set the ball on fire, pulled out all sorts of bangers to get the listening nation’s Saturday night going, and threw Raj Pannu in to scratch up a storm. Coldcut: Essential Mix
In 2006 Coldcut were given a 2 hour Essential mix slot on Pete Tong’s Saturday night Radio 1 show, possibly the most listened-to weekly dance show on the airwaves in the UK. They used the time to smash headlong through over two decades of party classics with rock and pop thrown in as well as the occasional children’s record. Jon More headed up the mix with new tour recruit Raj Pannu on scratches and it got such an enthusiastic reception it was later repeated in two separate shows on Solid Steel.
